PatentDJ LLC Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 17, 2026  |  Last Updated: June 17, 2026

PatentDJ LLC (“PatentDJ,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) takes privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, protect, and share personal information when any person (the “User”, “you” or “your”) accesses or uses our website (www.patentdj.com) and AI-powered platform for patent research and analysis (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you consent to PatentDJ handling your personal information as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

PatentDJ is designed with confidentiality as a foundational principle. We collect only the limited personal information necessary to create your account and process payments. Content you submit for analysis — including search queries and uploaded documents — is processed through our AI analysis pipeline and deleted from our systems upon completion of each session. Critically, when submitted content is transmitted to our AI processing vendors for analysis, it is transmitted without identifying you as the PatentDJ user who ordered the search, so long as your search query and uploaded documents do not contain personal information.

Upfront — we do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

If you have questions about this Policy, please contact us at privacy@patentdj.com.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected by PatentDJ through its website (www.patentdj.com) and the Services. It does not apply to third-party websites or services linked from our platform. PatentDJ’s Services are directed solely to users in the United States.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Registration Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Your full name;
  • Your email address; and
  • The name of your company or organization.

We do not collect government identification numbers, payment card numbers, financial account credentials, or other sensitive personal information as part of account registration.

2.2 Payment Information

Payments for the Services are processed by Stripe, Inc. (“Stripe”), a third-party payment processor. PatentDJ does not collect, store, or have access to your payment card numbers or financial account credentials. Your payment data is transmitted directly to and processed by Stripe pursuant to Stripe’s Privacy Policy (available at stripe.com/privacy) and applicable PCI-DSS standards.

PatentDJ receives limited transactional metadata from Stripe — such as payment confirmation, transaction date, and your subscription tier — solely for billing and account management purposes. This metadata does not include full card numbers, bank account details, or security codes.

2.3 Technical and Log Data

We collect certain technical information to operate and secure the Services, which may include:

  • IP address;
  • Browser type and version;
  • Operating system;
  • Date and time of access; and
  • Pages visited within the Services.

This data is used for security, fraud prevention, and operational maintenance. We may also retain per-account usage records sufficient to track subscription plan limits or credit allocations.

2.4 Communications

If you contact us by email or through our website, we retain your message content and contact information in order to respond to your inquiry and maintain a record of our correspondence.

2.5 Content Submitted for Analysis — Processing, Deletion, and User Obligations

When you submit content for analysis through the Services — including search queries, patent numbers, invention disclosures, uploaded documents, or other inputs — that content is handled as follows:

  • (a) Transmission to AI processors without user identification: Your submitted content is transmitted to our third-party AI processing vendors (OpenRouter and Google Gemini) to perform the requested analysis. When transmitted, your content is not accompanied by your name, email address, account identifier, or any other information that could identify you as a PatentDJ user. PatentDJ is the account holder with these vendors, not the User.
  • (b) Deletion from PatentDJ’s systems: Upon completion of each analysis session, submitted content and the resulting analysis output are deleted from PatentDJ’s own systems. PatentDJ does not maintain logs, archives, or backups of submitted content within its infrastructure.
  • (c) No AI training: PatentDJ does not use submitted content to train, fine-tune, or improve its own AI models. PatentDJ does not authorize its AI processing vendors to use submitted content for model training on PatentDJ’s behalf.
  • (d) User obligation — do not include personal identifiers: PatentDJ’s confidentiality architecture is designed to process submitted content without user identification. To preserve this architecture and protect the privacy of any individuals whose information might otherwise appear in your submissions, you must not include personal identifiers in any content you submit through the Services. By using the Services, you agree to this restriction as further described in PatentDJ’s Terms of Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information described in Section 2 for the following purposes:

  • Account Creation and Authentication: To create and manage your user account and verify your identity at login.
  • Service Delivery: To provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including processing submitted content through our AI analysis pipeline during your session.
  • Billing and Subscription Management: To manage your subscription, process payments through Stripe, and maintain billing records.
  • Transactional Communications: To send account verification codes, billing confirmations, and other service-related notifications through our email delivery provider, Brevo.
  • Security and Fraud Prevention: To detect, investigate, and prevent unauthorized access, misuse, and other harmful or illegal activity.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, and other legal obligations.
  • Usage or Credit Tracking: If applicable, to track your account’s usage against applicable subscription limits or credit allocations.

We do not use personal information for targeted advertising, behavioral profiling, interest-based advertising, or the training of artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

4. How We Share Your Information

PatentDJ does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes. Personal information is shared only in the limited circumstances described below.

4.1 Stripe — Payment Processing

We share your billing information with Stripe solely to process payment for the Services. Stripe acts as an independent data controller with respect to payment data and is subject to its own privacy policy and PCI-DSS obligations.

4.2 OpenRouter and Google Gemini — AI Analysis Processing

To deliver the AI-powered analysis features of the Services, PatentDJ routes submitted content through two AI processing vendors: OpenRouter, Inc. (“OpenRouter”), an AI model routing service, and Google Gemini API (“Google”). These vendors process submitted content solely to perform the analysis you have requested and return results to PatentDJ. As noted above, it is required that you exclude personal information from your searches and submissions for our process to remain anonymous. However, if you include personal information in your searches or uploaded documents, OpenRouter and Google Gemini will have access to them.

How this transmission works:

  • PatentDJ is the account holder with both OpenRouter and Google. Neither vendor receives your name, email address, account identifier, or any other information that identifies you as a PatentDJ user unless you include that information in your search query or uploaded documents.
  • PatentDJ submits your query content directly to OpenRouter and Google without identifying you as the user.
  • PatentDJ does not authorize OpenRouter or Google to use submitted content for advertising or for training AI models on PatentDJ’s behalf.

Vendor terms and data handling: OpenRouter’s and Google’s handling of API-submitted content is governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies, available at openrouter.ai/terms and ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms. Users with specific questions about how these vendors handle API requests should review the applicable vendor terms.

4.3 Brevo — Email Delivery

We use Brevo SAS (“Brevo”) to deliver transactional emails, including account verification and service notifications. We share your email address and name with Brevo solely for this purpose. Brevo processes this information as a service provider and is not authorized to use your information for its own marketing purposes.

4.4 Infrastructure and Hosting Provider

The Services are hosted on Verda, a SOC 2 Type II compliant cloud infrastructure provider. Account information and technical log data are stored on servers operated by Verda.

4.5 Legal Requirements

We may disclose personal information if required by applicable law, regulation, court order, subpoena, or governmental authority, or where we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of PatentDJ, our users, or the public.

4.6 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4.7 No Other Sharing

We do not share personal information with advertising networks, data brokers, or other commercial third parties beyond those described in this Section 4.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

PatentDJ uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Services. A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser.

Our use of cookies is limited to the session management and functional purposes described above. We do not enable third parties to collect personal information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use the Services.

7. Data Security

PatentDJ maintains administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we hold from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Our security measures include:

  • Encryption of data in transit using industry-standard TLS protocols;
  • Access controls limiting access to personal information to authorized personnel with a legitimate business need;
  • Automatic deletion of submitted content from PatentDJ’s systems upon completion of each analysis session; and
  • A user obligation not to submit personal identifiers in search queries or uploaded documents, which preserves the integrity of the anonymous transmission architecture described in Section 2.5.

No electronic transmission or storage system is entirely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information. In the event of a data security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. Your Privacy Rights

PatentDJ honors the following privacy rights for all users. These rights apply to the personal information we hold about you — your account information (name, email address, and company name), billing metadata, and any correspondence we retain. Because PatentDJ does not retain submitted analysis content, there is no such content subject to these rights.

  • Right of Non-Discrimination: We will not deny you Services, charge different prices, or provide a different level of service as a result of your exercise of any privacy right.

To submit a privacy request, email privacy@patentdj.com.

We will respond to verifiable requests within 90 days. We may ask you to provide information sufficient to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. PatentDJ does not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe that a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@patentdj.com and we will promptly delete that information.

Your continued use of the Services following posting of material changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
